Annecy June 8th

Au Fidele Berger had amazing macarons as we discovered over the next few days. We visited this place at least 3 times.

My brush pen was drying up which gave the drawing a chunky quality. I had left the replacement cartridge in Geneva. The color was done with a tiny travel color pencil set my mom got me a few years ago.

A few photos from Tuesday.

Prochain l'arrêt: Annecy!

I was working on my comic journal while we were on the bus from Geneva to Annecy, so I didn't draw anything in my sketchbook from the first day in Annecy. But here are some photos!

There are some more photos here. I'll be doing a more extensive review of the films I enjoyed, but I have some sudden freelance that has come up as well as previous projects to catch up on.

The Salève

On Sunday June 6th, we took a bus to the edge of Switzerland and walked over the border to France to hike the Salève. A 5 minute cable car ride and we were nearly at the top of the mountain. Another half hour of hiking through the woods and we were in a grassy fields overlooking Geneva, the Lake, and the French countryside with cow bells ringing musically in the wind.

Hiking photos here.

Genève

Bonjour! I just got back from a lovely trip to Switzerland and France! I took tons of photos, saw lots of inspiring animated films, got a bunch of sketching done and ate a ridiculous amount of cheese, bread, chocolate and gelato. It'll take me some time to get through everything, but for now here are some sketchbook drawings of my first non-jet-lagged day in Genève.

Flowers on Jackie's kitchen counter.

A building, a fountain and an eagle sculpture in Genève.

Some sketches from a shady bench.

I also posted a first round of photos here.

Pickles!

The last of the food watercolors.

Je vais cette semaine a voir quelques court metrages d'animation et manger beaucoup cornichons et fromage. I'll be keeping a sketch journal which I'll be posting from when I get back. Keep an eye out in June for the launch of Cooking Up Comics which many of you have been so patient in waiting for. All that patience deserves at least a teaser image of the final art, so here you go!

A bientot!
