Last of the Chelsea Market people

There were lots of sulky pre-teens wandering around with their parents. And little kids in adorable outfits. And some people who seemed over-dressed for 100 degrees.

If you missed the link on the Sketchcrawl Forum, here are a few photos from the High Line and Chelsea Market.

Chelsea Market ladies

There were lots of fashionable ladies in dresses of all sorts.

More Chelsea Market people

We found seating near a high traffic corner in Chelsea Market. There was a table outside a restaurant where a bunch of people were eating lunch so the waitress became one of my subjects. The other lady was wearing a crazy denim jumper which screamed "Texas" to me. Or maybe it was the fact that she was wearing it with silver heels.

Chelsea Market baby

I digitally colored some of my figure studies from Sketchcrawl and will be posting the rest of them this week. This baby was very interested in joining Patricia and my conversation.

Sketchcrawl #32 The High Line

Saturday was another 100 degree day in NYC, but that didn't stop 10 of us from meeting up to draw. Here are two watercolors I did on the High Line before we had to retreat to the air conditioning of Chelsea Market.

The Statue of Liberty is visible in the distance below the walkway.

Hanne and Olve joined us from Norway for this Sketchcrawl. We were all sobered by the recent tragic news from their home country. I hope they enjoy the rest of their visit to New York!

Some sketches of people and kids from Chelsea Market.

You can see some of my photos and a few more sketches on the Sketchcrawl Forum as well as drawings from all over the world!

Worldwide Sketchcrawl #32 is this Saturday July 23rd!

The NYC branch of Sketchcrawl will be meeting at the 23rd St. entrance to The High Line Park at 10 am to sketch outside. We'll make our way south to Chelsea Market to escape from the heat, get lunch and draw indoors for a bit.

It'll be a hot one, so remember to bring plenty of water and sun protection along with your sketching supplies!

If you're not in NYC, check the forums for a group meeting near you!

Hedwig, Ron, Harry and Hermione

I don't usually do much fan art, but I did some Harry Potter doodles with a sharpie and thought it'd be fun to color them up. I just watched Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows the other day, so maybe I'll actually catch the last film while it's still in theaters.

A little watercolor and some updates

I don't have much new art to show at the moment, but I found this watercolor in my archive. It's cropped from a card I made for my niece's birthday last month.

Mark your Calendars!

Worldwide Sketchcrawl #32 is scheduled for Saturday July 23rd. Go check out the forums to find one near you! The NYC branch will probably be meeting at The Highline Park. I'm looking forward to checking out the newly opened section and it looks like we'll have an international guest. Final meeting details will be posted in the forums.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
In other schedule news, I'm excited to add two new appearances to my upcoming convention schedule!

I'll have a table at The Philadelphia Alternative Comic Con (PACC) at The Rotunda from 2pm-7pm on Sunday August 14th. This will be my only event outside of NY this year, so come say hi!

I'll also be at Pete's Candy Store in Brooklyn for Fall into Zines on Sunday September 25th. More info on that as it's available.

It seems I'm reaching the 500 post limit on blogger. Wow, when did this happen?! I'll probably be adding a new sketch blog to my site in the near future. I'm really not into Tumblr, and Wordpress was overwhelming last time I tried to make heads or tails of it. So it'll probably be another blogger account. I'll be sure to point you, dear readers, to the new blog once it exists!
