Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Happy Year of the Dragon! I live in a predominately Korean and Chinese neighborhood, so this time of year is always festive. The lion dancers at the parades are my favorite.

Veronica boards

One of my favorite novels in the early 2000s was Veronica by Nicholas Christopher. What's not to love about an interdimensional travel story set in New York City? The first chapter is especially cinematic and I'd wanted to storyboard it for ages. I had some time off last summer so I did just that. Here are two pages I still like:

My Little Pony Colouring Book

After spending some time coloring with my niece over the Christmas break, I remembered some art from last year I never posted online. One of the anthologies I contributed to last year was The My Little Pony Colouring Book Fanzine edited by Rosemary Travale. Proceeds from the book benefited Horse Rescue Ontario.

Below is my submission which I took the liberty of coloring in Photoshop over the summer. I loved My Little Pony as a kid of the '80s and I was only recently introduced to the new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series. It is well designed, smart, funny and created by the wonderful Lauren Faust (animator on The Iron Giant, Powerpuff Girls story artist, Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends head writer etc.)
