The first half page was actually drawn from a book on animals but the rest are from my day sketching with the ladies at the Museum of Natural History.

Escape Pod

This is a cleaned up story sketch for a film idea I've been playing around with. Still needs some story work, but I liked this concept as still art.

Yes, summer drawing session has begun! I was pretty happy with these two short poses, even though the model is not my favorite.

Yesterday I picked up "Your Career in Animation: How to Survive and Thrive" by David Levy. So far, an informative and interesting read that includes interviews with top industry artists and some who aren't as well known (yet).

Out of Picture

I didn't plan on posting anything aside from my sketches here, but I'll make an exception. This Friday June 16th from 7 PM to 11 PM is the Out of Picture Launch Party. I picked up a copy of this beautiful art book at MoCCA. It's a collaboration of artists from Blue Sky Studios. The party is at the Society of Illustrators 128 East 63rd Street (between Park and Lexington Ave.)

Sketch at Dreamworks

The car and tree on the left were done after a hike in Griffith Park and the rest is from the Dreamworks campus.

Train

I sketched this on Memorial Day while at Travel Town in Griffith Park. We were trying to go to the L.A. zoo, but this proved much quieter (and cheaper!)

A watercolor card I made for my niece. I picked up the best little watercolor notebooks from NY Central Art Supply. This one was on Saunders 140 lb hot press. I like it a lot, though I'm usually into cold press.

Red Arizona sketch

I just got back from a 2 week trip to Arizona and California. Here's a page from my sketchbook that I did in red pencil at my aunt's coffee shop and a lovely pool. I'll be updating with several more sketches over the next week, so stay tooned ;)
