Some drawings from last week
Didn't get out to life drawing tonight, but here's some 1-3 minute poses from last week. They're pretty tiny.

Sandy Neck
I painted this for my Nana's birthday which was on Tuesday. I've been trying to do more watercolors, but its hard to get a loose painting from a photo reference. The colors look way dark on my monitor, but I'm trusting that it's just my computer...
The Animation Block Party is this weekend. It's the first time I'm able to attend. Should be fun!

Ritz launch
Hey the project I just art directed launched online! I did the character and prop designs, and the main design concept of the webpage. I also did the storyboards for the Water Fun, Backyard Fun and Barbecue Fun episodes and some animation tweaking here and there. This is what I've been doing for the past 2 months at work.

1 minute
Here's a bunch of 1 minute poses from last nights class. It's my first attempt to instill some of the new found knowledge of the Walt Stanchfield lectures. I'm trying to stop making pretty pictures and make good gestures. Drawing is hard.
Last night I also had to say "see ya later" to another of NY's finest who is moving to LA. Be nice to Mr. Warburton, west coast. On a positive note, I got to catch up with a bunch of great people I never see.
I got a copy of Bill Cone's "Light, Water & Granite" delivered to my door today. Pastels have always eluded me, but what this man can do with color is just amazing.
Also, I've updated my resume on my website!

Upcoming stuff
I don't usually post non-art here, but this is all art-related...
An animated film I've been long anticipating is playing this Saturday and Sunday at the IFC theater (11 am both days) I've been following the production blog for The Secret of Kells for quite some time. It sounds like it will get a wider release, but why not help give it a little push?
I also got my copies of Walt Stanchfield's Disney lectures yesterday. The two volumes are much heftier than I expected and FULL of awesome drawings and instruction. A lot of this is available on the web for free, but I'm the sort who likes to hold things in my hand and flip through them rather than stare at the computer more than I need to.
Any artist, whether an animator or not, can't help but benefit from this legend's teaching of gesture. I'm looking forward to getting into chapter 2 before life drawing this evening.

Sketchcrawl #23 is this Saturday July 11th. A group is meeting at 9:15 at the Met or draw where you wish until 1 pm when everyone will be meeting up at Central Park Jazz Festival at the entrance to the park at 106th St and CPW. I'll also be heading down to the Asian American Comic Con in Chinatown later that afternoon to visit Allan's table.
