Things have been crazy busy at work, but I managed to finish up the last pages of my 2011 sketchbook this past week. I was paging through it and found a few sketches that escaped the scanner earlier in the year.

In other news, if you're in New York this Thursday (March 1st), stop in to celebrate the opening of The Productive! It's a new co-working space my friend Susan has created with digital artists, writers and animators in mind. I donated some of my circus bookmarks as a reward for her successful Kickstarter fund. It's a great way to take a peek at the space if you're interested in joining and meet some fellow artists and other creative types.
Directions and party info can be found here and the official Productive site is here.

I bought a copic marker...
And I drew a bunch of heads in my sketchbook last night. I've been doing mostly digital work lately, so I treated myself to a few new pens to get drawing traditionally more. Copic markers are so juicy!
I joined Pinterest recently and it is my new favorite place to categorize awesome illustrations and other random visual stuff. I like that it always links back to the source site, unlike Tumblr.

Formal Friday
The studio I work at is doing "Formal Friday." I usually don't participate, but then I came up with a brilliant idea in the shower. No need to be formal in a girly sense, right? Here's the ensemble I planned. Vest and tie courtesy of Allan. I was gonna wear my great-grandpa's fedora, but it doesn't match my winter coat.

Hourly Comic Day 2012
Wednesday was Hourly Comic Day! I was at work, so I drew mine in my sketchbook. I was planning to just pencil them, but then I changed my mind and inked and shaded them too. I had a great time reading through some of my twitter buddies' work. Check out the forums to see what a million cartoonists did on Wednesday. (Ok, maybe less than a million.)
Here are some of my favorite Hourly Comics that I've read so far, in no particular order:
Sally Jane Thompson, UK
Samantha (Boumerie) Montreal, CAN
Tara Abbamondi, Pennsylvania
Vera Brosgol, Portland, OR
Raina Telgemeier, New York
John Allison, UK
Lucy Knisley, New York
Madeline Flores, Orlando, FL
Alison Wilgus, New York
