Pete's Mini Zine Fest this Saturday July 13, 2019

After a few years away from one of my favorite local events, I'll be back at Pete's Mini Zine Fest this Saturday July 13th. It's free to attend! Come buy a drink, some mini comics and zines and hang out with local artists in this indoor/outdoor bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn from 2 pm to 7 pm.

In addition to my usual auto-bio comics and vegetarian recipe fare, I'll have copies of my extra tiny zine about my childhood cat Bear. It'll be my first time selling it at a fest as it was previously part of Displaced Snail's Pet Zine project.

July is International Zine Month!

I realize things have been quiet here on the blog, so hello! July is International Zine Month. If you don't know what a zine is, here is a definition according to good ol' Wikipedia:

zine (/ˈziːn/ ZEEN; an abbreviation of fanzine or magazine) is most commonly a small circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images usually reproduced via photocopier.

I will once again be tabling at Pete's Mini Zine Fest. PMZF will be held Saturday July 25th from 2 pm to 7 pm at Pete's Candy Store (709 Lorimer St.) in Brooklyn, NY. The flyer for this years' event was created by Joseph Carlough and Katie Haegele. Come drink a beer and buy some zines!

If you're in NY, you can always stop by Bluestockings Bookshop at 172 Allen St. which has a great selection of self-published comics and zines. I just dropped off a fresh batch of Cooking Up Comics samplers last week and took a photo of their display for zine month which includes Urban Nomad!

In other zine news, I caught up with one of my former professors at Kutztown University at MoCCA back in April. A celebrated illustrator himself, Kevin McCloskey included my work in his donation to the brand new KU zine library. Thanks, Kevin!

Pete's Mini Zine Fest this Saturday

If you're in New York, come out to Pete's Mini Zine Fest this Saturday July 26th from 2 pm-7pm. I will be tabling with a bunch of other local writers and artists and selling copies of Urban Nomad, Cooking Up Comics and my mini zines. Come have a beer at Pete's Candy Store (709 Lorimer St. Williamsburg Brooklyn) and check out all the neat local art. There is also a live reading at the same location on Friday evening to kick off the weekend!

Pete's Mini Zine Fest in Brooklyn this Saturday!

Hello! Just a heads up that I will be at Pete's Mini Zine Fest in Brooklyn this Saturday August 24th from 2 pm to 7 pm. Pete's Candy Store (709 Lorimer St. between Frost and Richardson) is an awesome indoor/outdoor bar space in Williamsburg and the crowd and tablers are always laid back and nice. Lots of great people will have fun stuff there and you can drink beer while you walk around to check out everyone's work!

Here's a little preview of some of the comics I'll have this weekend. I'm currently sold out of Urban Nomad #3 and all but this issue of Counter Attack, but I'll have a mailing list sheet for anyone interested in getting an update when they're back in stock.

And here's a preview panel straight from my desk of Urban Nomad #4 which will debut at SPX in a few weeks! This story is about the first NYC hardcore show I went to in 2001.

Rob of Panel Patter wrote a nice spotlight of the work I'll have at SPX in a few weeks and will be posting a bunch of other great artists' work leading up to SPX. Hope to meet some of you in the coming weeks at one of these conventions!
